Andy Pollard Agricultural Advisor (Agronomy) Schooled in the Falklands with a passion for agriculture from an early age. School holidays were spent on farms, often as a slave in the shearing shed! In 1994 I attended Peter Symonds College in Winchester and in 1996 scraped enough A Levels to be accepted into Seale-Hayne Agricultural College in Devon. Between A Levels and Seale-Hayne I spent a year out working 6 months for the FI Department of Agriculture and 6 months on a farm in mid Wales as a GAP student. After 3 years at Seale-Hayne I was accredited with an HND in Agriculture along with a certificate of industrial experience. The industrial experience was basically a year out in Agriculture to gain two things, experience and some hard needed cash for the final years end celebrations. I spent the first 6 months of this year with the FI Department of Agriculture. The next 6 months I was extremely lucky to spend on a mixed farm in the Northeast of Tasmania. Rushy Lagoon being the largest farm in Tasmania. After the Tasmanian experience, returning to study certainly required motivation. A year later in October 2001 I graduated from Seale-Hayne with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. From then to the current day I have worked for the FI Department of Agriculture as an Agricultural Advisor after being promoted from Senior Agricultural Assistant.
