Chester Crowie Laboratory Assistant
In my time away from the Islands I have studied a broad range of science subjects at college. I then specialised further when I went to University and acquired and Honours Degree in Biochemistry which can be used in a wide range of lab based jobs in the Islands. Currently I aim to use my lab skills to aid the Agricultural Department in any experiments, trials and sample testing that they undertake. So far I have had the pleasure of being invited to North Arm for some on the job experience and a far cry from my normal lab duties. The whole department has made me feel right at home and it feels like I had never left. Gordon has shown me the old ropes and some new ones, such as coring squid samples to be sent down to the hospital for microbiological testing. This next year should be quite enjoyable and I hope to learn a lot more about how the farming community runs and aid, where I can, staff and the community I meet while I'm here. |
