Warren Landles

Agricultural Advisor

Farming a small hectarage himself and working as an independent advisor, Warren has been providing practical advice to farmers throughout the Midlands and the North West of England covering a wide range of   topics linked to management, conservation and    explaining how to tackle new UK farming legislation.

He has worked with many organic and conventional farmers and is qualified to give fertiliser and pesticide advice to UK farmers. His experience also includes arable cropping, milk production and poultry and the marketing of food and farm inputs.

More recently he ran a pilot project specifically helping livestock producers in a Less Favoured Area of England to maintain and improve their farm incomes through grassland management,  nutrient planning and soil husbandry, water conservation, energy efficiency, farm animal health planning and farmland Environmental Stewardship programmes.

He has mostly assisted farmers individually but was also asked to organise numerous on-farm training workshops.

Each spring he has helped lamb around 2,500 Mule, Swaledale and Romney Marsh ewes outdoors and has been involved in all practical aspects of managing upland sheep and suckler beef units, working closely with his neighbouring farmers who say they will miss his input, but at last they can employ a decent shearer!

Warren has also represented the West Midlands as its Food and Farming champion on a voluntary basis, highlighting issues raised by the region’s farmers with Government ministers and officials.

He enjoys playing sport and many outdoor activities and is looking forward to meeting and working with the Islands’ farmers.
